Annual Hertfordshire Volunteer Centres Awards 2017

The Annual Hertfordshire Volunteer Centres Award 2017 was presented in Volunteers Week by Will Hobhouse, High Sheriff of Hertfordshire.

1st Place: Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue

2nd Place: Family Lives

Joint 3rd Place: Carers in Hertfordshire

Congratulations to all our winners!

We were delighted to welcome representatives from volunteer involving organisations and supporters of volunteering in Hertfordshire to the 9th Volunteering Herts Conference to celebrate Volunteers Week 2017. Beale’s Hotel Hatfield kindly donated the venue for this much anticipated annual event which also saw the presentation of the Excellence in Volunteer Management Awards.

These awards are very special as participating organisations not only have to be signed up to or working towards the Volunteering Herts 6 point promise quality mark, but they can only be nominated by their volunteers for specific criteria around valuing and supporting volunteers.

Highlights from the event included an overview of future plans for the Volunteer Centres including the Motivating Herts marketing campaign, and volunteers sharing their stories of how Volunteer Centre support has helped them find volunteering opportunities that have bought them real personal benefits. The annual quiz – “How much do you know about Volunteering in Herts?” produced much discussion and was enjoyed by all.

The High Sheriff, who has volunteering as his theme for his year of office, spoke from his first-hand experience and knowledge about volunteering, volunteers and the voluntary sector which was much appreciated by attendees from voluntary organisations, commented:

“Great event, great venue, hope I get invited again next year!”
